2000.10.19 i can't forget:

so anyway…i like my new job quite a bit. it's a cool atmosphere, and the pay is rockin'. i'm still in the getting comfortable stage, though. which is probably made a little more difficult by the fact that one of my ex-girlfriends works here. i'm uncomfortable because she's the only girl to have ever dumped me for another guy. the killer was that he was this idiot, marilyn manson, magic card…dork. obviously this hit me right in the ego. and the whole scene was made uglier (by me, of course) and i flipped out, and i think the phrase "you're a psycho" was involved more than once. but hell…that was over 5 years ago, right? but i keep finding my mind wandering over there to her. she's still pretty attractive, and i wonder what she thinks of the new arrangement of us sharing a workplace.

or maybe i'm just an idiot. wouldn't be the first time…

so i was startled to see that bob from hey mercedes linked up transmission3000 on their site. cool.

there's a new, lengthy update over at kempa.com. adam better get on the ball. he's getting as bad as i am.

she kill. i die.

2000.10.18 cool tool:

here's something i've been looking for for a while now. with SyncIt, you can centralize your bookmarks, synchronize them automatically each time you edit them, and best of all, it doesn't interfere with your normal browsing activities. they have a client for Windows, and a pre-release version of the client for Macintosh.

**update 12/17/2004** SyncIt is no more. Bookmark sync client and server software have been released as open source and are currently stagnating at the bookmarksync project on sourceforge

2000.10.18 the truth is out there, kind of:

I didn't want to enjoy this, but there's actually some interesting stuff that's been made available because of the Freedom of Information Act. it's still funny how the whole "disclosure" thing works, with one sentence or phrase out of fifty actually not censored.

the most disturbing thing was scrolling through the index and seeing my uncle's name. turns out my uncle has the same name (including middle initial) as an assasinated state senator.

2000.10.17 i really should be working:

having nothing to do for a few days really kind of ruined me. now I can't seem to convince myself to do any real work around here. lucky for you, while I've been not working, I've been… uhh… doing research.

Check out this kick ass flash animation site–Modern Living–there's some really cool stuff on there. This link is courtesy Jeffrey Zeldman Presents: The Daily Report.

I keep meaning to post something other than just links, but i've been wasting too much time. I'll try to do a post before I go home today.

2000.10.16 cheap sex and sad films:

i'm sitting at work, loafing on my lunch break. thought i'd check in with a few handy links…

…like the amazing site for darren aronofsky's new film requiem for a dream. this site is simply astounding. i couldnt believe it when i first laid my eyes on it.

we watched radiohead on snl the other night. pretty damn good performance. they played the national anthem and idioteque. handy, because those are my two favorite songs off of kid a. you can watch it in real video over at lucky.

we recently registered the domain x13design.com. we haven't gotten around to getting it mapped to the server yet, but it should be taken care of within the week.

back. to. work.

2000.10.13 permalinks:

(ie. a quick update to yesterday's update for people who actually may, for some reason, care)

after setting up the permalinks (the little "PL"s you see at the bottom of every post) last night, i realized that it was going to horribly horribly break all the fancy-shmancy JavaScripts I'd written to protect the integrity of bipolar's frames. after quite a bit of frustration and discovery, i think i've finally gotten the problems licked, and made a few improvements to the original scripts in the process. so, permalink away!

in the event that anyone is not familiar with weblogs in general, or blogger blogs specifically, basically the permalinks provide you with a direct link (including an internal anchor tag) to a post in the blog's archives. this way, you can reference a specific post, and not worry about it getting bumped off the front page and yada yada yada.

if anyone has questions about how, what, or why I've done certain things certain ways, i'd be more than happy to discuss it with you. if anybody wants to see the javascript code (which i've moved out into include files) just email me (click the "m@" at the end of any post).

2000.10.12 kill him already, kill him:

so i've obviously been listening to too much radiohead lately. four of my last six post have radiohead titles. kinda scary. but when you're the mack daddy of the fuckin' world, what can you do?

i've determined that you all have the attention span of a gnat with a.d.d.

so anyhowways, i'm working on putting some cool stuff together with saulgoodman so viewers of transmission3000 will have access to all kinds of cool goodies. keep you eyes peeled.

and i'm hoping to write a few features for lost at sea in the off time. maybe i'll be able to trick them into giving me a regular column? who knows.

looking forward to the integration of the links to posts that matt is working on. i have no clue why, but i'm looking forward to it.

adam updated kempa.com. it's about god damn time, but it's a lengthy update, and he explains his abscence.

word around the campfire is that sebastian's death wasn't an accident.
