2000.11.15 metal health:

yeah. i'm getting to the point where i don't like looking at bipolar anymore. the "80s metal kid" look, as we've dubbed it, is annoying as hell. we've made it our mission to start redesigning the page sometime this weekend, so who knows when we'll get it done. html trickery, and all that. pip pip, cheerio.

the new faraquet cd is really fucking good. that is probably as blunt as i can put it. of all the cds i've gotten over the past week, it is the huge standout. not that the don cab is shabby, mind you; it's just that that faraquet is nothing short of amazing. buy it now.

well it looks like paul has been updating his page. i'm glad. it looks too good to not have a real reason to check back on a regular basis.

a belated thanks to kim over at desoto records. she's put the link back up to transmission3000, which is really cool. she also gave me a good reality check a couple of weeks ago when we talked. words of wisdom: you can't beat kim.

we thought you had band practice.

2000.11.14 we're keeping up the fiction:

wow. for a day where i didn't plan on doing anything, i was pretty active. guy came over and that was great because i haven't talked to or seen him in over two weeks. considering he's my so-called best friend in the universe, i figured i should treat him as such. so it was an early dinner for us. we stuffed down some awesome italian grub and talked about the various things that have been going on over the past couple of weeks. after that, we headed to the record store because the new faraquet album is out. i also happened to nab a limited edition version of the roots live cd that has 2 discs worth of goodness. this is a good thing, considering i kept seeing it in the record stores while i was in chicago and kept deciding against buying it.

speaking of chicago, i dropped the film off earlier, and we should have it back by tomorrow. we plan on writing a "hilarious misadventures" style thing complete with pictures. keep your eyes peeled.

and we stopped at the comic shop. and we ate again. having money is gonna kill me, i swear.

hey. bob. sorry about the template crack. i want to go on the record as saying that i like the layout of are you wearing a wire?. i just thought it was a little funny that i was thinking "that's a sharp page. why the hell is he wanting dreamweaver?" and yes…the 80's metal kid layout of bipolar is getting on both of our nerves around here. expect it to change. especially since we designed that kickass puffin-a-go-go page.

2000.11.14 blindness:

it's as bad as i'd feared. my father's influence still reigns supreme in my family's house. i just received an email from my (13 year old) brother today… he sent me a George W. Bush e-card. uggghhhh…

i know he'll grow up and learn things on his own the way i did, but it still frightens me that my own family is just as blind as they've always been.

2000.11.14 to have and to hold:

i found an awesome interview with evan dorkin. this guy is funny as hell, and he's been one of my favorite comic creators for a long, long time.

i missed deftones last week. they played up in colombus on thursday night, but in my excitement over my chicago trip…well…the deftones show got lost in the shuffle. there'll be another time, i'm sure. provided they don't go and break up.

speaking of breaking up…i've heard from a source or two that the make-up is finished. this really saddens me. they were one of my favorite bands to see live, and i consider them good friends. word is that ian and michelle are working on a new project together. i forgot what the name was, because i was completely blown about the news in the first place. and also drunk. let's not forget that…

it's my day off, and i have a lot of time to sit around and do some thinking. this is a good thing. i mean…how ludicrous is the thought of working and thinking at the same time? i mean…really…

time to go to the bank. it's my only real plan of the day, so after that…i'll probably be lost. maybe i'll get in here and post who the crush is/was. i tell you what…with all of the evidence spread out for you…? maybe i'll post the answer later tonight…

2000.11.13 we can do the scrappy:

so i'm back home, and back to work. wow. talk about same ol' bullshit.

my pokename is voltrider. i puke poison and rocks, i throw lightning and i can eat acid. i also have an intimate knowledge of kung fu. [via amplified to rock]

i just discovered that bob is using one of the default templates from blogger. the secret is out, man! you're screwed now! no wonder he wants dreamweaver so bad. i'm on it, bob…i'm on it.

had to start over from scratch here at work….looks like they deleted all of our profiles over the weekend. ahhh…thank you syncit. no thank you matt.

and that damned puffin is getting into this weblog thing. hope he can stick with it. that damn page looks too nice to let it go to waste…

…and hilarity ensues! [via saturn.org]

2000.11.13 no voices in the wire:

well we're finally at home. the drive back was completely uneventful, and now i'm sitting in front of the same computer i look at every day.

i had a good weekend. that pretty much boils down the whole thing into one easy nugget. there's a lot i could tell you, but no one would understand the hilarity of me making both matts that we stayed with into "eatmoshits" many, many times throughout the night. i still have no clue what i was talking about when the phrase "shitnocrap" was uttered. and yes, i did stalk around my chair proclaiming myself the big monkey after beating the living shit out of matt (pick one) at the first tony hawk game on dreamcast. as matt stated over to the right of here…i was the reigning champion until i indulged in way too much alcohol and forgot how to play video games. nevertheless, i was only an "eatmoshits" twice the entire evening.

on the subject of "the matts": those guys fucking rock. that's gonna have to be the last word on those dudes. nothing else needs to be said.

i hope everyone that we hung out with had a great time. i certainly did, and i'm looking forward to going back.

but as i told someone earlier today: we always find our way back home. but maybe that's not always a good thing…

2000.11.12 every breath you take:

today's update title comes to you courtesy of kinko's muzak and sting's bad ass.

so we're sitting in valpo, indiana, at a kinko's (a recurring theme, it seems…), updating these worthless blogs. we're wrapping up this weekend jaunt to the windy city, and we're about to head back to the 'ville. we're about 500 yards from the highway, so we'll be home lickety split, no shit.

i intended on coming up here to decompress and get my head straightened out about a few things, but as i've already stated to someone else once today, it looks like i've got a few more things on my mind now.

i'll update later tonight from my own computer. maybe then i'll be able to put some of these ducks in a row…

2000.11.12 on our way:

one more quick update from the road.

another town, another kinko's. thought we'd drop in before we get fully involved in this whole driving thing, check our email, and the puffin-a-go-go for word from our boy Paul. don't know at this point if we'll be able to make it home in time for the x-files, but we'll damn well try.

had a great evening last night, getting trashed at Matty & Matt's house, where i sat around watching brian whupping both their asses (until he got too drunk and started losing). you've never heard more trash talk in your life. football players could learn a thing or two from the big monkey. thankfully, i think the Matts really were enjoying themselves (perhaps the alchohol had something to do with that, but i prefer to think it was our sparkling personalities).

then, of course, there was nanette, without whom this entire weekend really wouldn't have been possible. WE LOVE NANETTE! i'd just like to publicly thank her for being so cool, showing us around her city, and not being too afraid to introduce us to her friends despite our predilection for violent, disgusting, and otherwise offensive humor. we had a great time and look forward to coming back sometime when we have enough money to do something other than just walk around all those great shops and look at stuff.

well, 'bout time to get back on the road or we'll never ever make it back before Duchovny shouts "Scully!" again.

2000.11.11 i'm blown:

quick update from the house of the Matt's–nanette's friends who have been our kind and gracious hosts for the majority of this evening.

i just have to say that brian is my new hero. after last night's 25 minute discussion with Mark Arm, the single greatest vocalist in music today (my opinion) and subsequent picture taking… tonight he walks in from a quick trip to the liquor store with the thing we've been searching for since moving to Louisville–a 40oz Mickey's. all hail brian.

good to see Paul has been keeping himself entertained while we've been up here. also good to see he's hanging out with Brax, our frequently otherwise-occupied friend. as much as i'm enjoying Chicago, i miss my friends after only a couple days away.

we'll post much more later. i've got a fohtee to drink.

2000.11.11 rock & roll will never die:

i think i may have a new monkeywrench convert on my hands. brian really seemed to enjoy the show as much as i did.

for those of you who don't know, the monkeywrench fucking rock. that's all there is to it. i was concerned since i thought the latest monkeywrench album Electric Children didn't rock quite as hard as Clean as a Broke Dick Dog… boy was i wrong. they brought so much out of those songs it was just amazing.

we had a great time earlier (before the show) hanging out with nanette who showed us around chicago a bit before we had to go to the show. looking forward to spending some more time with her tomorrow seeing sights and hopefully doing some (cheap) fun stuff. it really sucks that i had to spend all my money on my car, but, i suppose if i hadn't, we might not be here right now. luckily brian's got a buck or two, so we should be alright. if our luck holds out (it's been pretty good so far this trip) we'll have a place to stay tomorrow night that doesn't require money–if nanette can swing it for us. right now, my primary concern is finding our way out of chicago, to a hotel, and getting some damn sleep. i was so tired & hungry before we had dinner with nanette that i was starting to get dizzy. that doesn't happen too often.

there'll be more to write about, we're attempting to keep a trip log of some sort, so we'll probably have a lengthy update when we get back home.

gah. gotta get outta here. need sleep.
