2004.07.29 you're gonna be left alone:

days like this i really hate my job. seriously. one of our market areas recently got bought out by comcast. today they're doing all the transitioning. this basically means that these people are no longer our problem, as they are now comcast customers. splendid! until one particular jackass decides to call me…

jackass: i can't get online.
me: well, sir…it appears you're in a transition area. i can put you in touch with comcast…
jackass: i wasn't notified about this! you'd think they'd let you know about this!
me: well, sir, a letter was sent out, emails were sent out, and there was a note on your last bill.
jackass: you may think that's what happened, but that's not…
me: right, sir. would you like me to transfer you to comcast?
jackass: you don't seem to understand me. we're a national childcare agency and it is costing us money to be offline like this!
me: then we better hurry up and transfer you to the people that can help you with your problem!
*the jackass was then immediately transferred to comcast, with no further discussion of the matter*

jesus, man…what do you want? a fucking blowjob?

show tomorrow night. we are apparently playing with some band called "Amps II Eleven." I'm sure they'll be awesome.

2004.07.28 punk rock craze is the hottest thing goin':

last night was a much needed quiet evening at home. the girl and i ordered some pizza, everything was aces. we even went to bed early. i woke up feeling like a million bucks.

they're doing some interesting marketing for halo 2. seems like another one of those sprawling "arg" kinda things. blaine seems to think this points to them having a playable demo in the august oxm. could be…could be.

speaking of halo, that's what my after work plans consist of. i predict "the gooch" will run riot on the asses of all of my friends.

jesus. i wonder if i've ever posted something that insanely geeky.

how about this: my tickets for the wizardworld comic convention in chicago arrived on monday. does that outgeek the halo thing? i think it might.

2004.07.27 big black shape with eyes of fire:

sometimes mondays turn out pretty okay, i guess. last night after work, i headed over to danny's for a little halo action. The usual crew was in attendence. beer was consumed and enjoyed. friends were shot in the face with fake digital shotguns. who says america is a hotbed of violent culture?

while we were over at danny's, brooksie and i were able to see a test print of the l&n shirt. it's so incredibly badass, it's insane. i'm really hoping we'll have them ready by the show on friday.

oh…yeah…we're playing at woody's on friday. they called and asked us to play the show, kinda at the last minute. the info has been added to the l&n page. after the show we're gonna lug everything straight over to the funeral home to start recording on sunday night. let me tell ya…i'm so incredibly excited about lugging everything up those twisty-ass stairs…

the girl is headed home to columbus for the rest of the week. she should be home for the show on friday, which is good.

time for me to get back to not working…

2004.07.26 metal heavy, soft at the core:

it's nice to have a low key weekend, every once and a while. the girl and i just puttered about and took care of some odds and ends. just a good, lazy weekend.

we had band practice for the first time since the show in tyler park. things sounded great. we've debated practicing again before the show on friday, but i think we decided to get together just to work on some new stuff we're planning to record on sunday.

oh yeah…we start recording on sunday. we'll see how that turns out.

work sucks. coca-cola does not.

we should have l&n t-shirts ready by the show on friday. here's the design. danny "badass mo" cash will be printing them up. that would be because he is, as they say, the fuckin' man.

the mxr distortion + is, quite possibly, the greatest distortion pedal ever made. if you buy one, make sure to get a vintage one without the led.

i have spent an inordinate amount of time writing this very short post.

2004.07.23 bottom of the ocean she dwells:

it seems like my review of black sabbath's paranoid is getting some interesting responses, over at 75 or less. gotta love stuck up indie kids with no sense of humor or love for real rock and roll.

yesterday i got out of work early and went about the arduous task of finding l&n a new practice space. things aren't looking up. i'm sure we'll find something, but this is a royal pain in the ass.

the more i think about it, the more i'm inclined to call yesterday, as a whole, a wash. nothing good came from yesterday. paychecks didn't come in, i had a massive headache, itunes fucked up my mp3 organization, i didn't find us a practice space…all a bunch of bullshit. today hasn't been much better, really.

the girl gets home tonight. the debutantes are playing at the rud, so i think we may squeeze over there to check out the show. sounds like it should be a good time.

other than that…i got nothin'.

2004.07.22 can you help me occupy my brain?:

so last night was a hoot and a holler. right after work i met up with kevin and jeremy and the rest of the gang to celebrate their return from "the pan." it was a good time. many beers were drank (drunk?), good times were had. after everyone started spliting from the outlook, kevin, blaine and i walked up to the store, grabbed another 6 pack, and went back to blaine's house for some futurama. a solidly good night.

one of the things to come out of last night: l&n should be rcording next weekend. this will either be great or a complete disaster. i'm hoping for "great" and planning for "complete disaster."

matt's really kicking ass, over there. 3 for 3 on the posts, this week. i wonder if he's feeling the burn, yet…

they're filming the pilot for some ghetto-ass reality show across the street from my house. if this thing actually makes it to tv, you'll see my car on just about every episode, as i'm always parked right in front of the house they're filming at. what kind of tv production company has a damn yahoo email address? ghetto.

as i just started developing a splitting headache, i was thinking "at least it's payday." and then they told me something i really didn't want to hear:

Unfortunately, they will not be here until after 1 PM tomorrow.

i am fully prepared to kill someone. i have $2.06 to my name, today, as i planned on getting paid. this does not bode well for my lunch time. or the fact that my car is almost out of gas.

yes…this day can only get better from here. nevermind. forget i ever even iplied that things could not get worse. they always can and they always do.

2004.07.21 one of these days you'll fall asleep:

okay…this shit is getting old. when i come into work, i expect to be able to sit at my desk. not some ghetto-ass disk with a fucked up mouse and some jacked ass phone that doesn't even let you know when you're getting a call. i call bullshit, shenanigans and foul. maybe i should just get a job laying tile or some shit.

kevin and the gang were supposed to get back from japan, last night, but i haven't heard from any of them. they must have gone into hiding, or something. probably jetlagged out of their minds. we'll see when they finally emerge, i guess.

i didn't do anything, last night. i hung out with brooksie for a few minutes, cooked a gardenburger on the foreman grill and then sat around reading until i went to bed. i tell you what…i lead the most exciting life known to man.

blaine said he finally got his power back at about 7pm last night. that means his power was out for a full seven days. a goddamn week. and he lives right down the street, in the middle of the fucking city. that's crazytalk, man. crazytalk.

another shitty thing about my new schedule is that i can't even get to the comic shop until saturday. no more picking up comics on wednesdays…that's crap! i really need to find a schedule that gets off earlier than this, or i'll go insane.

is anyone out there going to the san diego comicon? anyone? does anyone actually read this fucking thing?

2004.07.20 i bet ten dollars on a losing horse:

wow. matt accepted the challenge. he's gonna try to post once per weekday. for the foreseeable future. my return to daily writing about nothing is inspiring! it inspires!

this list is hilarious. the vengeance scale, indeed. 10.0 on the scale was kinda a given, though.

after probably a full year of not even loading the page, i've spent the past couple of months on the hollywood stock exchange. my buddy brent and i are in friendly competition to see who the biggest movie nerd is. i'd say he wins, but i'm putting up a good challenge.

this sounds good. i can't wait.

i got nothin' else, right now…

2004.07.19 covered in hair:

well. the show. where to begin?

it was hot out. we sweated a lot. there seemed to be one bottle of water for the entire band to share. the vocals were so loud in my monitor that i heard myself breathing over the guitar. and apparently…my guitar wasn't loud enough.

but: we went over really well. we were instantly booked for another show next month. indoors. l&n developed a new rule, this weekend: no more outoor shows. check the l&n page for more info.

thanks to all of our friends that bothered to show up, none of which actually read this thing, i don't think. oh well…thanks to them, anyway.

sunday was spent lazing around the house and playing baldur's gate dark alliance ii with billy. we beat it. i can now whip through the game with drizzt. this means absolutely nothing to anyone but me and about 73 basement dwelling nerds who…also probably don't read this site.

and then drinks out at the bar with blaine, who still didn't have power. he had his fingers crossed for power to be restored today, so we'll see how that goes.

short update, but i've been busy, here at work. all day long. busy, busy, makesmewanttokillmyself busy.

now i'm going home.

2004.07.16 i have to learn how to remember to forget:

my buddy dan just reminded me that i forgot to mention our entries in this week's photo friday. the theme is "cool." mine is entry #371.
