i ate breakfast with my grandmother today. she cooked me scrambled eggs and toast. it was probably the most pleasant morning i've had all week. she and i discussed the election and our mutual disappointment that kerry didn't win. my grandmother also mentioned how disappointed she was that people still ended up voting for bush. she said she stayed up too late watching the results. it was probably the most political i have ever heard my grandmother. i would count it as one of the most interesting and enjoyable conversations we'd ever had.
that said, i'm running for president in 2012.

obviously, i'm not a happy guy, right now. i certainly don't want to be at work. this is the most depressing day in a long time…
but i guess the american people have spoken. and they said "for the most part, we're ignorant, stupid people who will be cowed by vague threats of terror."

election day. the day the people have the right to get out and have their voices heard. nevermind the electoral college. nevermind the voter fraud perpetrated by the republican party in multiple states. nevermind everything else…get out and be heard. cast your ballot for whoever you personally believe should lead this country.
that is your right. use it.
that said, if you vote for bush, you should seriously think about getting some fucking mental help.
lord help me…i was listening to an eagles song on the way to work and i enjoyed it. "take it easy." i dunno…it just has a positive message. fuck. i blame my parents.
details of the nirvana box set (due out later this month) have started to emerge. mtv.com has a complete track list, as well as info on where and when the various songs are from. i know more than a few people who are really excited about this. you can preorder it through amazon.com. i know i've added it to my amazon wishlist…
back to watching the exit polls…

so…how 'bout them red sox? i watched a little of the game from here at work until i went home. i turned on the daily show, only to have john stewart make fun of me for not watching the game. so i paused that and flipped back over to the game, just in time to watch the sox win. now that the red sox have "reversed the curse," espn.com runs down the 55 other cursed teams in major sports. of course, the chicago cubs top the list. of note to the puffin, himself, would be #3 on the list, the cleveland browns. they suffer from "the curse of paul brown." ha!
tonight i have to do that fasting thing that i did last week which i wasn't supposed to do until this week. can't eat past 7pm. i'll be having some chicken and dumplings at 6:59.
it looks like bush is blocking non-us based visitors from viewing his website. uh…whatever.
download fahrenheit 9/11. go ahead. do it. michael moore wants you to!
that's about enough link whoring for one day, i think…

wow. i'd like to say this surprises the hell out of me, but it doesn't, honestly. what could a person possibly say on a livejournal that would get a call from the secret service? did this person perhaps say that "president" george w. bush is a coke snorting, drunk driving liar? did this person say that ol' "dubya" deserves a swift kick in the balls for leading his country into an unjust war? did this person imply that bush and his cronies should be run out of washington by a mob bearing pitchforks and torches? did the person just say, flat out, that they'd like to kick the shit out of that smug fucker?
well, to be honest, i'd like to do the same. but i'm just gonna do my part on november 2nd. i'm gonna vote that smug, idiotic, lying bastard out of office.
damn…when the fuck did i start agreeing with eminem?
NOTE TO THE SECRET SERVICE: i'm not going to attack the president (physically, anyway). this is a post on the internet. please carry on and do something constructive…like finding those wmds or the 370 tons of missing explosives in iraq. dipshits.

my day was ruined as soon as i walked out my front door. on the 50-something pace walk from my front door to my car, i somehow managed to step in what i assume is a pretty fucking gigantic pile of dogshit. i had the window down, so i didn't notice the smell until i was a few blocks away. i just got done cleaning a metric ton of dogshit off my shoe, my brake pedal, my gas pedal and the fucking floor mat of my car.
i know the dog that was guilty of this crime against me and humanity. my retarded neighbors let their mangy mutt roam around the neighborhood, free to shit wherever it pleases. the fucker is constantly standing in my front yard when i come home at night, growling at me and acting like it's gonna bite me. i swear, if i see that fucker again, i'm calling animal control. either that or i'm gonna kick his mangy teeth down his mangy fucking throat.
other than that? well…it's still a shitty day. no pun intended.

man. i really have nothing to say today.
thinking…
nope. nothing.
i…uh…i'm hoping to switch to a new schedule, here at work. 6am-3pm. i don't know how i'm going to be able to adjust to that kind of schedule, but to be off work by 3pm, i'll do what needs to be done.
my doctor said my cholesterol is a little high. how did i help remedy this? lunch at rally's!
john peel died this morning. i'm sure if you really care, you've already read a lot about it, but i thought it bore mentioning. peel has been one of the most important voices in mainstream rock and roll radio for over 40 years. godspeed to you, john.

so i got up at six-fucking-thirty in the am on friday to go down to the hospital for this x-ray/ultrasound shit and what do i find out? i'm not supposed to be there until next friday. the splendid part about the whole thing is that i sat around the hospital for a goddamn hour before they finally discovered the shceduling snafu. like i said…splendid.
i left the hospital and went home and went directly to bed. i did not eat. i did not pass go. i did not collect $200. sleep.
what i did get done this weekend, however, is i finally encoded and posted the braid show i recorded back in 1999. yep. five years ago. i get a little behind, sometimes. either way, there it is. download it. enjoy it. i even posted a copy in the aac format, for all you itunes users.
this weekend was filled with good times with friends. brent had a party saturday night and danny had a chili supper last night, out at his grandad's place down on the river. good chili, good beer, a bonfire down by the river…good times.
but now it's monday and i'm supposed to be working. not so…splendid.

first off, i don't think i have stomach cancer. if i had stomach cancer, something tells me that i'd be in a lot more pain than i am, on a day to day basis. that said, i'm not looking forward to getting up at 6:30 am to have a doctor x-ray my stomach. getting up that early isn't something i like to do under any circumstances, let alone to have to go to the hospital.
so i can't eat after 7pm tonight. i have to "fast" before i go in for them to do this x-ray shit. splendid. so i bought a little thing of microwave velveeta shells and cheese, which i intend on eating at 6:59. i'm gonna run that shit down to the wire, you bet.
fazoli's is on my shit list. read all about it here. i normally find it hard to write a post a day here, let alone anywhere else, but i had to get that rant out.
i think i'm on the only computer in the entire office that doesn't have acrobat reader installed on it. splendid.
7:03pm verdict: the shells and cheese were fuckin' nasty.

sorry for the delay in posting. i generally have a rule that i don't post when i'm not at work. since i haven't been here in the office since thursday…here you have it. no posts.
jon posted a little write-up of L&N on friday. he also posted links to download the entire demo, so you should head over there and nab it, if you're interested.
so…on sunday L&N went to nashville and rocked the shit out of it. i think. we rocked, anyway. we played a good set. we were happy with it. we were happy to have billy play bass with us. it was a good time. big thanks to christine for having us down to play.
yesterday i spent most of the early part of the day sitting around my doctor's office. i've been having stomach problems lately, so hopefully we'll be able to figure out what's causing it. i had to go in for some lab work after that and now i have to go get my stomach x-rayed and my gall bladder…uh…ultrasounded on friday morning. i'm crossing my fingers and hoping that it's either nothing or something that will kill me quick.
other than that, it's been a nice, long weekend. the girl was home, so we spent a lot of time hanging out and just takin' it easy.
now i have to start catching up on my work…
