rocket from the motherfucking crypt is playing in chicago on sunday. i already have plans to go to bloomington to see spoon on saturday, so it looks like i'll be putting quite a few miles on the car, this weekend. expect some sort of audioblog post from the rocket show.

it seems there's an acual blog by someone living in baghdad. it's called where is raed? and is a damned interesting read. i recommend checking it out, if anything just for a completely different point of view than any of us here in the states (or wherever you may be) are privy to. of particular interest is this post.
the last few days have been a little weird, i guess. yesterday was scott's birthday, so we went out and had a few drinks. we played a few rounds of buck hunter and quite a bit of megatouch. the police box set has been on constant rotation, and i finally took it out on the way into work today. there's something to be said for an in-dash mp3 cd deck. it's nice to put the entire police catalog on one disc and setting it on random.
in response to our president demanding that saddam step down and leave iraq, iraqi officials suggest maybe bush should be the one leaving office. i couldn't have said it better…
in other news, our phone doesn't seem to be working. it's apparantly been out all weekend, yet we somehow didn't notice. we get no dialtone, but if you call our house, it rings. it doesn't ring at our house, but it rings to the caller. no message saying it's disconnected, no answering machine. just ringing. we checked all the lines in the house, and scott even went outside to check it at the box. he discovered some sort of silicone putty stuffed into the test jack. scott seems to think there's some sort of sabotage conspiracy going on. possible suspects are the bratty neighbor kids. to defend them, i honestly don't think they're smart enough to consider something like that. it seems a little involved for a gang of halfwits like themselves. regardless, now i have to sit at home all tomorrow afternoon to wait on the phone repair guy.
thank goodness we switched to cable internet…
i finished william gibson's latest novel, last night. i ended up reading more than half the book in one day. now i'm just hoping that he decides to turn it into a three book cycle like the last two (cycles) he's written. i'm stuck wondering what the hell happened to wingrove pollard.
and since he's my favorite author on the planet (no light statement), i figure i'll link up his own personal blog-thing. he updates it way more than i update this thing, that's for sure.
my first few news items have gone up over at eq.stratics.com. i've been on autopilot, over there…just kinda posting various things from press releases sony sends me. i'm feeling it out. seeing in which direction i can take it before they boot me from the staff…

looks like jack's either been busy or busy being dead: as the apple turns hasn't been updated in a long while. maybe the combination of a new baby and heavy snows in the area (new england) have kept him busier than normal. or maybe katie did exceptionally well on jeopardy…
the question that's been plaguing me recently is "who the hell invented the urinal cake?" there's discussion of it in the theatrical version of joe's apartment, but i want the real story… the internet, in it's vast (i thought infinite) wisdom, has yet to provide me an answer. maybe i need to sacrifice a few more chickens to google.
i ran across this nice article about some of the damning evidence on the iraqis being faked. of course, it's great how the u.s. officials are all getting away with it:
