2000.12.06 blather:

well, for lack of something better–more meaningful–to post, i'll post some news items that're probably only of interest to me.

Amiga's about to release version 3.9 of their classic OS, and there's a petition to attempt to convince Amiga to give the nod to the development of a PowerPC native version 4.0.

in other Amiga classic news, Cloanto has released Amiga Forever 4.0–a classic Amiga emulation suite, complete with everything you need to emulate a classic Amiga from the workbench 1.0 days to workbench 3.1. for those of you now toiling away on your PC, Mac, or Linux boxes who long for the days when an OS didn't require over 200MB just to install, and when computers were actually fun to use, get yourself a piece of computing history.

in modern Amiga news, Amiga has released version 1.01 of their new SDK for linux and windows systems, as well as specifications for official AmigaOne systems.

there. now that that's all off my chest, on to other things.

yes. i failed to meet brian's challenge to post every day while he was gone. but i did get our home network setup, complete with that blazin' DSL connection that he's been gushing about since getting home.
it's good to have him back though. i'm relieved that his plane didn't fall out of the sky on his very first flight ever.

can't wait for paul to bring that dune tape over for a marathon viewing. i loved the Lynch version, and paul seems to like this one, so i'm sure it's gonna be great. (or was great, depending on your point of view)

i'm tapped.

2000.11.12 on our way:

one more quick update from the road.

another town, another kinko's. thought we'd drop in before we get fully involved in this whole driving thing, check our email, and the puffin-a-go-go for word from our boy Paul. don't know at this point if we'll be able to make it home in time for the x-files, but we'll damn well try.

had a great evening last night, getting trashed at Matty & Matt's house, where i sat around watching brian whupping both their asses (until he got too drunk and started losing). you've never heard more trash talk in your life. football players could learn a thing or two from the big monkey. thankfully, i think the Matts really were enjoying themselves (perhaps the alchohol had something to do with that, but i prefer to think it was our sparkling personalities).

then, of course, there was nanette, without whom this entire weekend really wouldn't have been possible. WE LOVE NANETTE! i'd just like to publicly thank her for being so cool, showing us around her city, and not being too afraid to introduce us to her friends despite our predilection for violent, disgusting, and otherwise offensive humor. we had a great time and look forward to coming back sometime when we have enough money to do something other than just walk around all those great shops and look at stuff.

well, 'bout time to get back on the road or we'll never ever make it back before Duchovny shouts "Scully!" again.

2000.10.12 another day:

well, thought I'd do a quick little update before I leave work. one thing of note is that I've added permalinks (at the end of each post, use the "PL" links to link to individual posts) not that I can really imagine that anyone will ever need or want to do this. I'll have to add it to brian's blog tonight, if he wants it.

yesterday was comics & denny's day, and after doing that thing, Paul and I went over to his house to watch Star Trek: Voyager (which I'm completely out of the loop on, not having seen an episode in something like two years now.) It was a fun little episode, lots of Seven of Nine, which always makes Voyager worth watching.

I've had jack to do today, sat around in my new cube most of the day just surfing the web, found some weird stuff, but nothing really cool enough to write about. checked out some other blogs, saturn.org, powazek.com, and some others I didn't pay as much attention to. I pretty much clicked almost every link on saturn.org, there's some interesting stuff there.

I had an idea that I was going to finish what I started talking about in yesterday's post, but I don't think I can.

I keep wondering why I'm doing this. right now I guess I'm doubting my reasons for keeping this up, and wondering what the ultimate purpose is. I'd like to think that I do it to give myself a forum, somewhere to work out the things in my head, since I can't seem to find time (or enough inspiration) to do my other creative writing stuff anymore. i'd like to think I do it to communicate things to those people I should talk to everyday but can't, i'd like to think i'm doing it for something other than my ego, vanity, and desire for recognition.

hopefully I'll feel better about this whole thing tomorrow.

2000.06.16 that robot stole my sandwich:

yes my friends, it's come down to this. I have absolutely nothing of importance to say this evening, so I'll just leave you to explore a fancy little site I found honoring one of the funniest characters to exist on TV in the past few years–Chester, from Sifl & Olly. This little site seems to be a great source of sound bites and other Chester related thingies, but since my computer at home is so CRAP, I haven't really been able to download the sound files (which are in RealAudio format for those of you who might care.)

check out Stolen Holiday and have yourselves a few laughs while I'm working my ass off at my new job.

**update 12/17/2004** stolen holiday is gone, so have this link to the official Sifl & Olly site instead.

g'night.
