god…this is probably gonna be a rant in six hundred and sixty-six parts. where do i begin? how about the beginning? okay…
i was born.
nah…too early.
okay…i got up this morning. yeah…that's better. anyway, i went to pick up my first real check from the new job. i decided to finally stop fearing banks and open a new account today. so i go into the bank, get all the way into the whole opening the account thing, and then they're like "there seems to be an issue with your last bank." if i were keeping this blog back then, you would all collectively go "oh…jesus. he must be pissed." but i didn't, so i guess i'll explain. i had an account with a bank that will remain nameless (BankOne! avoid them at all costs!). i had numerous problems with my account through them, so i decided to close it. well when i closed the account, reducing the balance to zero, they charged me a $2 assisted transfer fee! that then evolved into a $25 overdraft fee. well then the account was still open, so my retarded ex-landlord decided to keep ramming this check that i had already given him cash for, through. causing bounce after bounce. well, all those added up to a whopping $213.05 that i just found out that i owed to this bank! keep in mind that all this happened a year and a half ago. so…geez this is getting long…so i stalk into the main branch of my old bank to casually ask "what the fuck is up?" they give me the run-around until i'm finally talking to the manager of the entire bank. so i tell him what's up, let him know that i think that whoever came up with the brilliant idea of trying to charge me for closing the account was a total moron, and basically show my displeasure with his entire bank. he gives me some weird company line that i disregarded out of hand. then came my big statement of the day: "can we cut the bullshit and clear this the fuck up?" (i know…i'm quite the glib fella…). well then things proceeded at a pleasant clip. oh yeah. after i said that, i found my calm little center and escaped the scene with all my limbs intact and a closed bank account.
so i got that taken care of. and damn, is that a relief.
so yeah….women. more specifically crushes. what the fuck are they good for? i guess they're here for us to enjoy and dream about and then to have reality walk into the room, start laughing like a madman, and then kick our teeth in. i mean…we get crushes on the worst people imaginable, right? most of the time it's people that you have no fucking chance with ever. ever ever ever. never. and the line "i know you're quite attached at the moment, and you probably think i'm a frickin' loony, but damn i like you a lot" generally sounds bad under any circumstances. such is life, right?
ahhhh…screw it. it's my day off.
first off i'd like to apologize to bob if he took offense at the "negative reinforcement" thing. i wanted to state more clearly that his log puts his morning rants into a very palatable, funny package. it seriously puts a smile on my face. so there. (sorry bob).
in other "indie weblog clique" news: adam posted a short update.
so matt and i went out to the "saloon" for a few drinks last night. that was good fun, and the bartender girl kept coming up into he gameroom to talk to us about how bad the band that was playing downstairs was. the exchange went something like this:
her: "are any of you guys friends with them down there? the guys playing music?"
us: "no."
her: "good. they fuckin' suck."
needless to say, it was pretty fucking funny. but she did end up putting on some strange sort of beck mixtape after they finally left the stage. we were convinced that this was to impress us and that her frequent visits upsatirs (under the guise of picking up our empties) were just to see us in action. yes we are completely delusional.
we've also decided to go up to chicago next week to see the monkeywrench play at the empty bottle. me and matt on the road to madness. can't beat that.
quick note: newest obsession….amplified to rock. she's just too cute to not stare at longingly…
i guess life is all about perceptions. that's probably the understatement of the week, but hey…i'm making this shit up as i go along. anyhow, i've recetly been accused of being a smoker. this is actually kinda funny because i think cigarettes are absolutely fuckin' gross. totally. but this individual presented the most iron-clad case that i was, indeed, a smoker. it involved the following quote: "I saw you doing it the other day…" and " I guess you were just holding and puffing on it for someone else?" pretty funny. but seriously…i don't smoke. ask . really.
i really don't know how i've lived without bob having a weblog up until this point. i mean…i come in in the morning and there he is, telling me how much he hates his job. can't beat that. that's what we call negative morning reinforcement. makes one have a pleasant day.
today is matt's birthday, by the way, so . make it really, really bad.
looks like my announcement yesterday of how cool the slamdek site is was premature. he's got everything set up over there, but the emusic end of things has yet to work. visit and you'll see what i'm talking about. good news is that you can get your very own @slamdek.com email address. louisville scene geeks of the world rejoice!
funny and somewhat scary playstation2 stories.
back to the pits…
find of the day…while looking at the cover of the first sunspring cd and pining over the beautiful vision of punk girl holiness on the cover, i decided to try to find a webpage to link a sunspring ref to…well i found it. the official slamdek records homepage. my life is now complete. scott ritcher is now allowed to be my friend again.
other than that, shit…it's all downhill…
note to self: rotten.com is a really bad place to visit right after eating.
there are apparently two versions of the playstation 2 floating around the u.s….looks like there is a difference in the driver versions for the dvd player and the actual "browser" part of the system…
adam is right…ebay is a great place to look for effects pedals…
time to get back to enjoying my day off…
weekend…meet weekday. know thy enemy.
well we went to a party at this warehouse this weekend. i was the only one of our group not in costume (or so it seemed…i was actually in disguise as a well adjusted member of society!). our friend brax was wearing this hilarious pimp suit with a giant afro wig. pretty funny stuff. anyway, we all proceeded to drink way too much and stand around pseudo-socializing as people normally do at parties. fun was had by all.
the playstation2 has yet to suck my brain out. i haven't had time to sit down with it for longer than 20 minutes at a time, so that's probably the reason. we did, however watch disc 2 of fight club on it, and the dvd playback is pretty nice.
if you have any old effects pedals you don't want and/or need, …i'm stockpiling for a future experiment.
hope bob doesn't notice i'm stealing lines out of his songs for update titles…guess i better learn to be more obscure.
i posted the national acrobat show to transmission3000 this weekend. it's a radio broadcast they did out in New Jersey. it's not the best sound quality in the world, but damn it's fuckin' funny. it has to be heard to be believed…
this is why exploding dog is so great.
argh…back to the grind…
well it looks like the server is spending a little downtime. so while it's taking a nap, i'll update bipolar and post it later…
in recent news: bob from hey mercedes has now set up a weblog to chronicle his work rantings, and maybe an occasional hey mercedes newsbit. it's called "are you wearing a wire" and is supposedly named after an as-of-yet unperformed new hey mercedes song.
welcome kerry back, ladies and gentlemen. looks like kerroo is back in business…of a sort.
adam has updated kempa.com again. like he mentions…twice in a row. seems like he's back on track…
it is now playstation2 day, so you probably won't see me around much for a couple of days…
the national acrobat show over at transmission3000 will have to wait until we get some ftp problems ironed out. looks like a l'il something got goofed and i don't have access to update the site right now. ah well…everything in its right place, eh?
and in closing…the coolest website i've found all week: exploding dog. enjoy.
well…it's a new day, and i'm stuck on a seemingly old obsession. i can't shake the thoughts of the ex-girlfriend that i share my workplace with. maybe i need to drop her a friendly email…
anyway, it looks like radioheadfans.com is continuing their trend of posting songs from recent radiohead shows. they now have live audio from the show saturday night at the greek in la. and find of all finds, they have the songs from the snl performance in beautiful .mpg movies. crystal clear…
i, myself, am working on getting the national acrobat radio broadcast posted to transmission3000. i should be loaded on the server sometime in the next day or so, so look for it by the middle of the week.
i am now officially poor for the next 2 weeks. i payed off my playstation2 in full on friday, so i'll be out of commision for a few days following this coming thursday. but i don't see it as a loss of money…i just gained a game system and a dvd player.
blah.
note to self: i must be more oblique.
just a quick note: there are new radiohead mp3s up from the roseland show last week here. there's only three tracks, but maybe they'll post the rest soon…
