2004.12.07 can't live for tomorrow:

wow…today has been incredibly eventful.

first i found out that the live hot snakes 7" they were selling on their most recent tour was, in fact, a peel session. not only that, but it was the last peel session ever. wow. i found all this out after kurp sent me an email to let me know that they were selling the 7" on the swami records merch site. after some begging and pleading, i was able to find someone who could order it for me (i have no credit/debit card). so…that was awesome. i'm happy.

add to that the fact that i won a contest over on jim lee's blog. i am walking out of that deal with a very rare, retailer only copy of batman #608. it has a different cover than the normal edition and goes for $400-500 on ebay. super awesome! not only is jim lee one of my favorite comic artists of all time, but he's a super swell guy. wow.

something i forgot to mention yesterday was that i spent most of my weekend putting together a dvd of nirvana's 1993 mtv live and loud performance. i made new menus and even added a couple "hidden" extras. i'm quite proud of it. you can download it via bittorrent from here (you'll have to register for the site). that's a raw dvd folder that you'll have to burn onto dvd with a (shock!) dvd burner, but you should be able to play the dvd from your hard drive with just about any dvd player software (does windows media player support dvd now?).

wow. i'd call this a pretty decent tuesday.

2004.12.06 i'm a live wire:

i hate not having anything in particular to post about, yet knowing i should post. it's…maddening.

we're playing a show saturday at dutch's tavern. it looks like we'll probably be doing it sans rehearsal, once again, as we still don't have a space. the last show didn't go incredibly bad, so hopefully this one will be a little better.

i have been pissing every 20 minutes, today. it's insane. at least i'm not dehydrated, i guess.

it's been unseasonably warm over the past couple of days, here in louisville. it's nice, but i'm just waiting for the full force of winter to come kick us all in the ass.

and now that i've resorted to talking about the fucking weather, i'm done for today.

2004.11.30 i love you for what i am not:

today…i would like to address a few things that bug me.

disclaimer: this may not be pretty.

to the fat couple that decided to makeout right in front of the break room door: hey? people? get the fuck out of the way. no one wants to see you nuzzling at work, especially not when your huge asses are blocking all egress to the fucking snack machines.

to the coke machine in the break room and the people that maintain it: what the fuck? stop being broken, you piece of shit. i want coke, not pepsi. i think pepsi tastes like toilet water. whoever maintains that fucking machine better get it fixed real goddamn quick. it's been broke since last wednesday. thanksgiving is no fucking excuse!

to grippo's potato chips: stop being so fucking good.

to my brain: i go to work earlier now. let me get some fucking sleep, for once.

to the dickhole in the white explorer on i-65 north this morning: real smooth, dickwad. run up behind me and ride my ass, whip around me and then cut me off, just to go slower than i was. you're a class act. i hope you choke on a dick and die.

to my stomach: stop hurting me, you sadistic little sonofabitch.

to the idiot customers that call this place: broadband internet is not going to make your piece of shit windows 98 computer run any faster. word will not magically start opening faster. if it takes you close to an hour to get your computer booted up, broadband will not fucking help you. you may as well catch up with the future and buy a new computer. or kill yourself. either option is fine.

i think that's enough bile for one day…

2004.11.29 i can't let you smother me:

well…it appears matt decided to "flip the switch" on his bipolar "improvements" over the holiday weekend. what this has basically done is made the site completely frustrating to use if you're not a technonerd running the latest nightly build of firefox. i am taking this oppurtunity to stick up for the non-nerd audience and cry bullshit/shenanigans and request that matt switches the shit back until firefox actually supports the bug fix in an actual release.

i spent my holiday weekend in columbus with the girl. we had fun. we did some shopping. we ate green bean casserole. it was good.

unfortunately, i bought some mint chocolate m&m's and ended up leaving them in columbus. now i'll have to scour the local stores and see if i can find a few bags before the other scavengers descend on them and ruin my chances.

speaking of scavengers…christmas shopping traffic is a real bitch.

nirvana box set = good.

i hearby denounce donato's pizza. i will boycott them forever.

i'd love to do split ep with drum:kan from japan. i have some ideas. they're in town recording their new album with my friend kevin. i'll have to talk to them about this crazy idea.

2004.11.23 i don't need a host to live:

wow…it finally happened. the nirvana box set came out today. i was thinking some sort of extinction level event would happen this morning before the thing actually had a chance to make it to market. i'll probably buy it this weekend after getting paid. it'll be my one splurge on myself before descending into the suburban combat that is "the holidays."

to be honest, i've had the music portion of the box set for a few days now. i'll still buy it, though. i really want the book and dvd that the set comes with.

we're playing a show on december 11th at dutch's tavern with arch and ronnie mack. this is cool, since billy has been playing drums for ronnie mack for a little while, now. nothing better than playing rock and roll shows with your rock and roll friends.

i've had to type this entry twice now and i still haven't been able to come up with anything else important to post. maybe tomorrow…

2004.11.22 a year's subscription of bad puns:

ugh. what a weekend. i got to start it out as early as thursday, when i woke up with some stomach pain and ended up going to the doctor. the doctor then, through a comedy of errors, decided to set me up for a cat scan of my stomach on friday. so on friday i went to the hospital as directed, only to have my insurance company decline to authorize the procedure, as they weren't convinced it was needed. i'm really glad the insurance company doesn't want me to know what's wrong with me. it's really great to know i have people like them looking out for me.

regardless of stomach pain, L&N played our scheduled show at the swanson reed gallery. prior to playing the show, we hadn't practiced for over 3 weeks. surprisingly enough, we didn't suck royally. i was semi-pleased with the performance.

our next show is december 11th at dutch's tavern with arch. more details as i get them. hopefully we can practice before then…

after the show i went out for dinner with danny, priscilla and brent at los aztecas. mmmmm…delicious mexican food.

other than that stuff, i've been playing halo 2 pretty much every night. for those interested, you can check out the rss feed for my stats here. i'm not really that good.

maybe i should spend more time working than thinking about halo 2. nah…

2004.11.17 you can't fire me because i quit:

whoa. i fell off the posting wagon for a little while there. my apologies. i'm back in the saddle, though…never you fear.

i spent the weekend up in chicago seeing the pixies. man…that was one awesome show. i'm just stoked they played "hey." that was probably the highlight of the show for me. they closed with "vamos," which was chock full of guitar shenanigans.

we're playing a show on saturday. it's our first official all-ages show, so i'm kinda excited, i guess. it'll be interesting to see what the "kids" think of the L&N sound. we may or may not be playing some new material.

next week…thanksgiving. the girl and i are still debating on what we're actually doing. i think we're driving to owensboro, but that changes every other time i talk to her. i figure i'll find out the night before and we'll go from there.

halo 2 is sucking up a lot of my free time. i've almost completely abandoned gta san andreas in favor of sitting on blaine's couch, blastin' fools over the internet. is it odd that i have an xbox live account, yet i have no xbox or even a copy of halo 2?

2004.11.11 protector of the kennel:

firefox 1.0 was officially released on tuesday. i recommend that everyone go and download it. it will change your life for the better.

unfortunately, i botched my install of it, last night. i'll have to completely nuke my profile (for firefox) and start with a clean install when i get home tonight.

i'm also working on a dvd of this nirvana show. if anyone has a high quality video file of this performance or the rehearsals please let me know. or, more to the point: gimme gimme gimme.

seth and i were talking last night about how we wish that someone would release a comprehensive dvd (or dvd set) of all these assorted nirvana mtv performances. and is it too much to ask for dvd versions of Live! Tonight! Sold Out!! and 1991 – The Year Punk Broke? i mean…shit. someone needs to get on the ball. with the new box set coming out, they should have all of this shit ready to go on the swanky dvd format.

actually…there's this entry on amazon which is interesting. it says it's not planned, but they'll email you when it is released. it also says "You'll also be voting for this release; we'll let the studio know how many customers are waiting for this title." interesting. now…just need a few hundred more people besides me to sign up and we'll be on our way.

top 3 drum intros ever:
1. when the levee breaks – led zeppelin
2. paradise city – guns 'n' roses
3. scentless apprentice – nirvana

the brian death watch: i'm still alive. you can't have my guitar yet.

2004.11.10 instant karma's gonna get you:

wow. i am now the proud owner of a general sense of uncomfortableness and a dash of humiliation. splendid. as if having my doctor stick his finger up my ass yesterday wasn't bad enough, now i have to go to another doctor and have him stick a fucking camera up there. awesome. maybe they'll do the evening news on location from inside my ass, while they're up there. good times.

other than that…my life is filled with videgames. halo 2 is awesome. i've been hanging out with blaine, whuppin' it up on our other friends on xbox live. i'm pretty much convinced that i need to get an xbox and halo 2. no shit. i don't know why i've waited this long.

grand theft auto: san andreas continues to entertain me, as well.

today i have received 21 spam email messages, 14 of which are from a series of girls all wanting me to "Look at my homepage with my last webcam photos!"

how about…no? leave me the fuck alone.

UPDATE: make that more like 50-60 copies of this fucking email. after doing a little poking around on the internet, i've found that it's the byproduct of a new mass mailing worm. you may want to take that under advisement.

unlike my aborted trip to see hot snakes, last weekend, i will be going to chicago this saturday to see the pixies. i am so incredibly excited it's not even close to being funny. actually…my excitement has reached a pretty ludicrous level, so maybe it would be funny to the casual observer.

blah blah blah i hate my job blah whine complain blah blah

2004.11.08 i'm too busy acting like i'm not naive:

i was supposed to go to chicago to see hot snakes, this weekend. joe and brooksie both backed out. i tried calling numerous people to try and find someone to go up there with. i stalled out with seth who backed out after i had already picked him up. splendid. needless to say, i wasted hours on this bullshit and ended up not going. which, as you can probably imagine, i am still incredibly thrilled about.

instead of going to chicago, i spent the day sitting at home, playing grand theft auto: san andreas. running around the streets of los santos, "blastin' fools" and takin' their "scrilla" was somewhat therapeutic.

but it didn't soften the blow when there were multiple people at the bar later that night that told me "you should have called me! i would have gone!"

damn it.

oh well. according to their website, they'll be coming back around in the spring. unfortunately, they had a very limited live 7" they were selling on this tour, which means i'll probably never get one.

so, in preparation for the trip, i burned a few new cds for the car, one of which is all the nirvana records and some assorted b-sides. i'm really looking forward to that fucking box set.

i'm also looking forward to halo 2, which comes out tonight/tomorrow. i'll be going down to the ebgames with danny and blaine at around midnight to pick it up, then we'll be deathmatching the shit out of each other until the sun comes up, most likely.

as long as i'm sitting here, bored at work, i may as well try to catch a nap or something…
